“music is the medicine to the soul”

Recorded during our lab's hanami (cherry blossom watching in Japan) this spring.

This song paints the image of a rural village full of paddy fields and flowing rivers. It tells the childhood story of a boy living in the countryside.

"Nada Sōsō," an Okinawan language phrase meaning "large tears are falling". The song speak of looking through an old photo-book at pictures of somebody who has passed away.

Okinawa is not only known for her beautiful ocean, but also her unique culture and history.

Sheng Sheng Man (聲聲慢•尋尋覓覓)

The song was adapted from a poem by the female poet Li Qingzhao from the Song dynasty.

The poem was probably written in her later years after the demise of the Northern Song Dynasty. Through describing the sceneries and sounds of late autumn, she expressed her sorrow and loneliness after her family’s fleeing and her husband’s death.

The Rose by Bette Midler

Playing music among the trees with the smell of barbecue is one of the best kinda feelings :)
